The straps are tight. The seconds are ticking away down to the final moment. A sweaty-handed guard prepares to pull the lever of fate.
5…4…3…2…
The red phone rings.
The warden picks up the reciever and holds it to his ear. He nods a couple of times.
“I understand.” he says into the phone in an emotionless, monotoned voice.
He returns the reciever to it’s cradle and gazes at the executioner, then to the condemned. He cracks a slight smile, obviously something he is not used to doing.
“That was the Governor.” he says.
The straps come off and Uber gets put back into her cell.
Yep, Uber isn’t quite toast after all. After ditching the dying friend that was Uber, a DA journal post by Scott Alexander let me back to her bedside. Apparently, social networking site ShareNow is interested in partnering with Uber in some form and has offered to foot Uber’s bills for a month. In other words, the Uber community has 30 days to prove it’s value to the-powers-that-be at ShareNow. What kind of value is ShareNow looking for?
Activity.
So get back to Uber and get active. For my part, I’ll definately be active in the Photography Group and, if needed, will still volunteer as an editor.
I like my blog here, though…
Here’s the official statement from Uber.
In the past week we’ve had a flood of great feedback and support from all of you. Thank you again. That activity brought us several opportunities from different companies that could keep the doors open here and one of those companies, sharenow.com, has graciously bought us some more time to figure out if there is a fit. We hope you’ll not only stick with us through this next month, but even POST EVERY DAY! The more activity we get, the better chance we have to keep this going. Thousands of you said you would welcome a ‘Save Uber Drive,’ well, this is your chance! We have at least another month to make it happen and only you can help. And when you post, remember to blast all your friends on myspace and facebook, and let them know what you’re up to!Thanks again for your all your feedback. Tell a friend about uber and have them join today. We’ll keep you posted as things transpire. Our thanks go to sharenow.com.

I really hope it works out. Would be awesome. Already posted a “save uber” blog.
If it does, would you keep your wordpress blog or just keep going at Uber?
