Wow. Seriously, wow. My mind is blown. You know that ethics probe concerning Sarah Palin allegedly abusing her power as Alaskan Governor to pressure a state official into firing her ex-brother-in-law and then firing the official for his refusal? Wait, it’s not allegedly any more because the final report came out a couple of days ago. Now remember, the investigative body was a mix of both Republicans and Democrats. Here’s a quote from the report, penned by Stephen Branchflower:
Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda.
So she did abuse her power and possibly violate Alaskan State ethics laws. That’s not what blows my mind, though. I figure that in a state with such a small population there’s going to be a fair amount of nepotism (there’s a little bit everywhere but even more so in small places) and once you’re out of the family, you’re out of a job. Fine. No big deal.
Not to me, anyway.
What blows my mind is that Gov. Sarah Palin, when asked, proudly states that the report concluded that she had done no wrong!
Seriously.
She even went on to challenge the reporter who asked to go back and read the report again!
Here’s a quote from America’s #1 Hockey Mom:
No, and if you read the read the report you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member. You got to read the report, sir.
And she’s stuck by this claim. So here’s my question to you guys & gals, is this:
- “Denial Strategy”? (i.e. “People will just listen to me and not actually read the report” or “If I deny it long enough then it will just be forgotten.”)
- Honest Ignorance? (Remember, she doesn’t read the news so she probably didn’t read the report. More then likely, her campaign advisers told her what they wanted her to think it said.)
- Something else?
Here’s the CNN report on her responses to reporters.
Tina Fey is going to have some great material to work with come the next SNL.

Already involved in a scandal and not even in the white house yet…
I am totally against Palin, Mccain and the Republicans,
However, when the verdict was met, the person who wrote the report said something along the lines of “She is guilty of advantage of her power, however she didn’t do anything illegal.”
I just hope they don’t get in…
