My Favorite Quote From the VP Debate

I just finished watching the first and only Vice Presidential debate for the 2008 election and I’d like to share with everyone my favorite quote from the debate. I wasn’t quite sure I had heard it correctly, but I’ve checked CNN’s transcript of the debate and it’s there.

The subject: Weaknesses. Moderator Ifill asked both Biden and Palin about what they percieved their greatest weakness to be. When it was Palin’s turn, she specifically asked about her lack of experience. This was her response:

My experience as an executive will be put to good use as a mayor and business owner and oil and gas regulator and then as governor of a huge state, a huge energy producing state that is accounting for much progress towards getting our nation energy independence and that’s extremely important.

Yes, it’s a little Couric-esq in that is sounds a little confused. Kind of like when one of my almost-4 year old twins talks. But that’s not the flub. Can you see it? Read Palin’s answer again, slowly. If you still can’t spot it, here it is:

My experience as an executive will be put to good use as a mayor and business owner and oil and gas regulator and then as governor of a huge state… .

Apparently, Sarah Palin already thinks she already is Vice President and plans on running for mayor and governor plus get a job as an oil and gas regulator and open her own business. Maybe someone should have tapped her on her shoulder and told her that she had it backward.

Kind of like having a teenage daughter get knocked up after going through the abstenece program her mom promoted in school.

Now on to Tuesday, Wednesday morning for me in sunny-but-typhoon-weary Taipei.
