Thank who?!?!
Yes, you read the title of this post correctly. I said “Thank You, President Bush”. No, I’m not nuts. One cannot look at the historic election that has taken place over the past couple of years and not give Mr. Bush his due credit.
Seriously.
President George W. Bush did such a poor job and has become so wildly unpopular that it forced a singular significant shift in the way my fellow Americans think. At a minimum it changed what we think qualifies someone as a leader. It forced many Americans to finally look past color and sex and into the character of the candidates. It finally became conceivable for a gender other then “male” and a ethnicity other then “Caucasian” to be considered as appropriate for the highest office in the land.
And so, for forcing that paradigm shift in the way we Americans think I say to President Bush “Thank you.”
I must agree with Mrs. Hasselbeck of The View when she said that in 100 years time President Bush’s legacy will be seen in a much more positive light. However, I believe the “light” will have nothing to do with Iraq or “freedom” but with the fact that his administration’s unilateral policies failed so miserably that he led the way in ushering in such a phenomenal cultural shift. I think when my grandchildren study history, this is what will be said of Bush’s legacy.
Now Almost-Former-President Bush and Almost-Former-Vice-President Dick Cheney I kindly ask you to step aside…or have you already been pushed to the side by the winds of Change?
Governor Palin, you keep performing your governatorial duty and keep an eye out for those Russians, okay? If in 2012 you decide to put your name into the GOP primaries hat and run for President or put your name out there to be tapped for Vice President I highly suggest that over the next four years you study the Constitution a little bit. Just cover the basics so that you are aware of what your job would actually entail. This way, you can avoid any future “elite liberal media gotcha” questions from a 3rd grader. Maybe your local community college has an extension course? At least you can Google the word “Constitution”.
Senator McCain, I sincerely hope that once you get back to the Legislature you will return to being your former self, the real “Maverick”. It will take cooperation from all sides if America is going to use this opportunity to move forward and evolve.
January 20th can’t come fast enough.
