January Meeting of Eggs with Cameras

Long Table Conversation

Long Table Conversation

Okay, okay. So the name is the Taiwan Photo Club, at least according to the Flickr group.

But I still like “Eggs with Cameras”. ;)

So the third monthly get-together happened yesterday at the Yuma Southwestern Grill and, overall, it was a wonderful experience.

BTW, don’t eat the nachos. Craig Ferguson had some fried calamari, which he swore by. A few folks also had some chicken wraps, which looked good. Next time…or to be safe I could just grab a burger from the joint on the corner. Honestly, I can’t see how Hungry in Taipei could rave about the place…but then again she seems to rave about every joint.  But I guess I shouldn’t expect to like an outside take (the proprietors are from South Korea) of a style of food originating from where I spent a lot of my youth.

Okay Craig, next time I’m going for the fried calamari. Or one of those chicken wraps. Or a burger snuck in my messenger bag.

But not the nachos.

SK couldn’t make it this time, but that was okay. TC Lin brought his M3. He forgot to bring a roll of film for it, but later on a friend of his dropped off a roll of Neopan for him. As for me, I needed to finish off a roll and a half of color (Fuji H) from a portrait session I had had the previous week and didn’t bring any black & white film this time.

Anyway, the attendance was less then the first (November) meeting, but the overall quality was better. By “quality” I certainly don’t mean the quality of the attendees (or the quality of the food  ), but the quality of the conversations and general “vibe”. Maybe it was just that I felt a little bit more comfortable this time around because I wasn’t meeting everyone for the first time? Regardless, I truly enjoyed myself and did get to have friendly conversations with people like CraigDavid, and others (I hope your leg is better today!) whom I really didn’t get a chance to talk to the first time. I also got to have more involved and interesting conversations with people that I had friendly conversations with the first time, like Gulio and TC Lin.

Thanks much to Giulio for the time and effort he put into his presentation. It was very informative and his oils are very, very good.

Oh, and I need to send a massive “Thank You” to TC Lin for a compliment he gave me (speaking to someone else) while we were waiting for our change. It quite literally caught me off guard.

I have some photos from the post-meeting excursion to the Chinese New Year street market at  Dihua that I’ll share in an upcoming post.

I look forward to seeing everyone next time!
