Taiwan Best Trip Competetion

So, I really hadn’t paid a lot of attention to the Taiwan Best Trip Competition. I mean, I had gotten the tweets about it from various friends on the island, but didn’t put any effort in to finding out any more information about it.

I mean, 4 days? I know Taiwan is a small island but there’s no way you can cover it in 4 days…but if you base yourself in Taipei you can cover (in general swaths) the cultures of Taiwan in 4 days. And that’s exactly the idea that a contest entrant whose email was waiting for me in my inbox this morning had. Check out her video:

Her video reminded me just how close and easily accessible someplace like Wulai is from where I am in Taipei. For a bonus-extra-special-gold-star-cookie point, try and spot Craig Ferguson towards the end of the video.

If you think her concept is a good one, head over to http://tiny.cc/vote4us and give her a vote.

Update 2009-10-7 Looks like the author of the contest entry, Yi, loved Taiwan so much during her past visit that in a week-and-a-half she will be sticking a tentpole in the ground for 6 months! If she was able to experience what she did in the video in just 4 days, just imagine what she can see in 6 months. Heck, I’ve been here 10 years and there are still places I haven’t seen or haven’t seen properly. Thanks to Marcus for the update.

On a seperate but still travel related note, I’m heading to Hualien for the 10/10 weekend. If anyone wants me to bring them back some Muji, let me know. ;)
