When I left yesterday morning for Huashan Culture Park in Taipei I fully planned on bringing back an SD card filled with photos of guys with their faces painted in black, yellow, red, green, and white. It was South Africa Day 2010, after all. When I arrived, I found a much different atmosphere then what I expected. Sure there were South Africa Day booths, but there was also a products fair in the same park and, in between the two, buildings full of local art on display. All-in-all, the South Africa Day area was the least interesting part of the whole day…well, unless you like beer and wine.
So, here are my photos of the day.
As usual, the first think I did upon arriving was find the nearest latte. This one happened to be made out of the back of a VW van.

I also bought my lunch out of the back of a VW. Apparently, these are the latest in Taiwanese street food stall fashion and are a very common sight at beaches and large parks. I actually wanted to buy my lunch at the South Africa Day Festival, but there were only 3(?) food stalls and the only one I was really interested in was the burger grill, which had a huge line. ![]()

Even with all the people, there were pockets of calm and rest.

Considering the stormy weather that proceeded it, Saturday’s weather was perfect for being outside.

In what was probably the most surreal moment of the day, this passed through the center of the South Africa Day venue.

I’ll end with the obligitory shot of a guy drinking a beer with the South African flag painted on his face. Where’s the football match? ![]()

Are these EP1 shots? Are you still shooting film?
@TC These were all with the EP-1 and 28/2.8. I didn’t do any post-processing to the color…I actually like default way the EP-1 renders images. Very neutral.
